Managerial communication

INTRODUCTION

Managerial communication is an pattern provided to emphasize the need to understand different cultures and their effect on management communication can be somewhat explained as being communication between the manager and subordinates through lower level management and communication in organizations. I will be focusing on two key areas, namely

External communication and Internal communication .

Organizational communication is how managers communicate within an organization or the influence of organizational structures in communicating .To build, to develop and to run business, first of all, to communicate, to transmit information, opinions and decisions and, at the same time, to receive answers to such.

Managerial communications involves meeting important information from both within and outdoor the organization and allocate appropriate information to others who need it .Managers communicate to share a vision of what the organization can be and motivate employees to help achieve it.

Technical communicators can use their professional skills to help industry improve managerial-employee communication, an area that directly affects productivity.

    • Management is slowly discovering the unique skills of communication professionals within the organization and using them to implement such improvements, part of the trend toward total quality control within organizations.
    • Management is beginning to recognize the need to improve both upward and downward communication.
    • Management invited technical communication to survey, observe, and analyze their managerial-employee communication and to recommend specific improvement strategies.

    The project included two phases:

    • Survey of managerial-employee attitudes towards communication within the company.
    • Analysis of meetings to determine flow down of information.

    Although the survey statements were the same for all participants, instructions differed slightly in the area focusing manager/supervisor communication.

    Employees were asked for the response that best described their reactions as employees; managers/supervisors were asked to respond according to their beliefs about employees. In addition, the survey integrated two open-ended statements to encourage suggestions and recommendations.

    The Organisation must encourage employee feedback and participation. The company values include frank communications up and down and across the organization however, that the company needs a system in place for information flow emphasize teamwork and by training facilitators. Here, too, a system for information deployment could remove more perceived barriers.

    A good action plan will tie in directly with the strategy, setting out the activities, targets, deadlines and resources needed to implement each element of the strategy.

    It will also identify lead officers responsible for each action, and build in evaluation so that you can monitor the success of each action. Make it two-way that means listening and acting on it too .Make it face-to-face as much as possible.

    Explain your vision, values and messages ? so that the staff understand how their own work and individual services or projects fit into the bigger picture.
