Unfair Internet

AIM: "Access to the internet has increased the occurrence of unfair practice at British universities"

Introduction:

In today's world all the work is done on the internet. Internet is becoming important part of the human life. Internet is nothing but a global system of interconnected computer.

Internet is a network which consist of many public, private, academic, business, government and sports information and this information easily accessed. On internet we can do shopping banking and access any type of information. Therefore internet usage increases significantly. All the information is free on internet and any one can access a 5 years child can access. Therefore it is very popular in student. Student can easily make their assignment and do their home work by copying and pasting using internet sources. This is increasing unfair practice in British university. The unfair practice is also termed as plagiarism. Plagiarism means that passing off someone else work as your own without any acknowledge. A student is doing this because they don't think about the topic. Student are becoming careless and lazy for doing there assignment and lacking of original idea. So they are visiting the internet and collect the information, simply copying and pasting from the net. Most of the students are work on deadline because of poor planning. Therefore they have to work fast and hard so they visit internet to do ther assignment. This increases the unfair practice in British university. The British university is making an offence that is doing plagiarism. They are very strict about this and taking very strong step to avoid this.

Analysis:

Why plagiarism is increasing in British university?

Internet is the simplest way to access information. All the information can student accessed by one click. Internet is very easy way to access the information. Internet has vast collection of information, everything is available on internet student can access this free of cost. Therefore student do there assignment and work on basis of internet information. it is very cheap and every student can afford instead of buying costly book journals. We don't to have to go any in library to serch for an assignment; on internet they can easily search and write about this.student can do easily copying pasting from the internet and show to it is ther work. In uk almost student doing study as well as job so they have no time to make assiognment or work in a time so they go on internet and do copy and pasteing.some of the student are careless and lazy they don't do their work in time because of this they access the information from internet without any information and show to university is there work. Some student are work on there assignment when the deadline is coming so they are overwhelmed and do copy and pasting. Some student does not understand the topic and confuse about the topic so they go on internet search about their topic and don't think themselves. Sometimes teachers are not providing the enough information to make their assignment so they refer the internet write the replica copy. A student think that they are not writer or thinker which can think and write they don't use ther skill so they are going to internet and do unfair practice. Student are so much in pressure from parents teachers friends to get the good the good marks so they focus on the result they don't think creatively to solve the assignment. Time management is the big problem in the student life they don't lean and do their work so they have to do unfair practice. The student is copy directly from the sources about the biographic description. They also write a some sentence in between the original sentence this is also plagiarism. Student are copy the sources from internet and do some editing by changing some words and sentences to do there assignment. In British all the assignment are submitted on the net, some of the are hack there mates assignment and submitted by their name this is also an issue which is now a days. Some of the students have thinking if others are doing so I have to do from net so this is also increase the access the internet aggressively. The student directly copy from the internet and don't give quotation and don't explain in own word simply serch this and writing others note to support the statement. Technology is killing the thinking of the student. This technology is using by student in wrong university has to take some step to stop unfair practice. Student are confuse and not clear about the assignment and work so they visit the internet to sole there query and confusion. Now a day's internet is coming on the mobile. So student can access the net at home as well as outside at anywhere in the world. There internet so popular among the youngsters. They easily going to net and simply copy and paste the resources. Some intelligent change the phrase, word and sentence from the internet sources this is aso a unfair practice. Sometimes don't have capability to change the text and create own from internet so they are doing copy and pasting.

In British university most of the student are from outside from UK so they don't know the rule of unfair practice. So they do their work by copying and pasting. This will increase the unfair practice in the UK.

Resources where student can easily find the sources to complete assignment are Google and Wikipedia. These site have almost information about anything student can access this by one click, it is free and main thing is that it is every. Students are access this site and easily complete their assignment. If student is doing copy and pasting from the internet he/she should put quotation and acknowledge to avoid the unfair and explain in own language. If student are doing paraphrasing be confident he or she don't change one or two word but change the whole by its own and have the same meaning as the original has

In British university, assignment is more important than the written exam. Because from one line or a word student has to write their assignment. But in written exam they know from which book they have to study, where they find it and they have to write in the exam. But in assignment they have to write2000 to 3000 word from their own. Student is mind is not fast so they don't understand what to write in the assignment and also don't know the which book or journal is cover the whole topic of the assignment so they have to access the internet and make replica. That's why in British university the unfair practice is increasing.

Following are the way how unfair practice is done from internet:

  • Simply copying and pasting from the internet sources.
  • Using someone else phrase and sentence from the internet without acknowledge the author.
  • Changing the word and sentence from the internet sources
  • Use data pictures, diagrams from the internet without acknowledge them.

Prevention to stop plagiarism:

British university make plagiarism an offence but it is not it. They have to take some other step to come up from this problem.

Students have to make the strong planning for doing their work and not waiting for the deadline. Student should work in time and complete their assignment in time. They have to think critically and creatively for ther work not fully rely on the internet sources. Student should think about the topic and discuss to their friend to solve their doubts

Teachers should teach all the information regarding to their work and help if they find some difficulty. Encourage the student if they do not write properly avoid some grammatically mistake and spelling mistake. Push the student to think about the the topic write there assignment. Teachers should tell the student how they build up there voice and own style to write the assignment. Don't compare the student work with any other student and other author because the entire student is not brilliant. Teachers should check thee work regularly if they are not doing give some help to do there assignment.

Student don't simply copying and pasting from the internet they collect all the resources which they find from internet and critically analyze all the resources and write in own language. Students should avoid the unfair practice by think their own and write the assignment and stop other not do unfair practice. Because of this our future is in dark.

Parent's friend and teachers don't pressure the student to get the good result always. This will increase the pressure of student to do better and due to this pressure they don't do well. So they are copying and pasting from internet.

Plagiarism Software's should make more accurate which find the unfair work easily. This will help in decrease of unfair practice in the university.

Discussion:

Now a day's students are careless about their work. So they do plagiarism or unfair practice to do their work. The British universities are making this an offence however students are doing. This is the unethical way to complete their work. This is like crime by kidnapping of some others thoughts.

There are many examples how student are do unfair practice but i am suggesting two examples to explain this.

Original text is

"The origins of the game of cricket are lost in the mists of time. There is a reference in the household accounts of Edward I in 1300 of a game like cricket being played in Kent.

It seems clear that the English game originated in the sheep-rearing country of the South East, where the short grass of the download pastures made it possible to bowl a ball of wool or rags at a target. That target was usually the wicket-gate of the sheep pasture, which was defended with a bat in the form of a shepherd's crooked staff."

Plagiarized Text is

"The origins of the cricket are lost with time. The household accounts of Edward in1300 of a game like cricket being played in Kent. It is very clear that cricket is originated in the sheep-rearing country of South East, where short grass of surface and environment is suitable to bowl a ball. That target was usually the wicket-gate of the sheep pasture, which was defended with a bat in the form of a shepherd's crooked staff."

In plagiarized text student has just change some words and paraphrase and remaining sentences are remains same. In first sentence he placed "lost with time" from "lost in the mist of time". And in another sentences he only change some words and phrase but the idea behind meaning is remains same then it is said to be imitation of original text so it is example of plagiarism.

Example

Original text is

"Management in all business and human organization activity is simply the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives. Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial resources, technological resources, and natural resources".

Plagiarized text

"Management is activity of getting people together to accomplish desired goal and objectives. It comprises planning, staffing, leading and controlling or effort for accomplishing a goal. Resources encompass the deployment and manipulation of human resources and other resources".

In this example student has done word to word copy of original text. And he is change some paraphrase of original sentences and cut some words but concept and thought behind it is remains same so it is example of plagiarism.

Conclusion:

Students are doing unfair practice from internet because it is free and easy to use. Student can access the information from the internet easily. Most of the students are lazy and careless about there so they work on dead line. So they visit the internet to do their work. Most of the students are outside from the UK so they don't know the rule of unfair practice so they copy and pasting to do their work. Therefore access to the internet increased the unfair practice in the British university.

Part 2:

Premises and Conclusion

  1. Identify the premises (the reasons or evidence) and the conclusion.
  2. Decide whether the premises provide strong or weak support for the conclusion.
  3. Explain your answer.
  1. Another reason that women are better than men at raising children is that they are kinder. My mother was a good example. She did many kind things not only for me but also for many other people she met, including strangers.
  2. Premise: My mother was a good example. She did many kind things not only for me but also for many other people she met, including strangers.

Conclusion: women are better than men at raising children is that they are kinder.

In this example premise support the conclusion. Woman is better than man because they are kind for me and others people including premises.

  3. Living costs are also increasing in the areas of housing affordability. In a recent survey, 68% of people said that they found it more difficult to pay their rent or housing loan than last year.
  4. Premise: In a recent survey, 68% of people said that they found it more difficult to pay their rent or housing loan than last year.

Conclusion: Living costs are also increasing in the areas of housing affordability.

In this example premise is support conclusion. Linivg cost is increasing because in survey more people found it more difficult to pay their rent or housing last year.

  5. The decline in the fertility rate is a further reason that immigration will become more and more important. According to Weston (2001), the fertility rate in this country has fallen from 3.5 live births per woman in 1961 to its lowest level ever, 1.8 babies per woman in 1999 and 2000.
  6. Premise: According to Weston (2001), the fertility rate in this country has fallen from 3.5 live births per woman in 1961 to its lowest level ever, 1.8 babies per woman in 1999 and 2000.

Conclusion: The decline in the fertility rate is a further reason that immigration will become more and more important.

In this example premise is not able to give reason for importance of immigration and decline in fertility rate.

  7. No evidence has yet been found of a direct link between this particular product and heart diseases or other illnesses. Therefore, we would conclude that it is perfectly safe for people of all ages to take it.
  8. Premise: No evidence has yet been found of a direct link between this particular product and heart diseases or other illnesses.

Conclusion: Therefore, we would conclude that it is perfectly safe for people of all ages to take it.

In this example premise is support the conclusion

  9. It appears for the moment that there is unlikely to be a connection between eating this product and the ability to concentrate. Despite extensive research focused on investigation this link, such as Crumlin (1996), Detford (2000) and Gandiger-Herzog (2002), no evidence has yet been found.
  10. Premise: It appears for the moment that there is unlikely to be a connection between eating this product and the ability to concentrate

Conclusion: . Despite extensive research focused on investigation this link, such as Crumlin (1996), Detford (2000) and Gandiger-Herzog (2002), no evidence has yet been found.

In this example conclusion is not able to support the premises. According to sentence we can say it is conclusion.

Fallacy: Begging the Question

Begging the Question is a fallacy in which the premises includethe claimthat the conclusion is true or (directly or indirectly) assume that the conclusion is true. This sort of "reasoning" typically has the following form.

  1. Premises in which the truth of the conclusion is claimed or the truth of the conclusion is assumed (either directly or indirectly).
  2. Claim C (the conclusion) is true.

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/begging-the-question.html)

Example

Today is your birthday therefore today is your birthday.

Explanation:

There is no difference between premises and conclusion. Therefore it is begging the question.

Fallacy:AppealtoEmotion

"This fallacy is committed when someone manipulates peoples' emotions in order to get them to accept a claim as being true. More formally, this sort of "reasoning" involves the substitution of various means of producing strong emotions in place ofevidencefor a claim. If the favorable emotions associated with X influence thepersonto accept X as true because they "feel good about X," then he has fallen prey to the fallacy."

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/appeal-to-emotion.html)

Example:

Bill goes to hear a politician speak. The politician tells the crowd about the evils of the government and the need to throw out the people who are currently in office. After hearing the speech, Bill is full of hatred for the current politicians. Because of this, he feels good about getting rid of the old politicians and accepts thatit isthe right thing to do because of how he feels.

Explanation:

Bill is become emotional when he here the speech of the new politician.

Fallacy: Appeal to ignorance

Definition: In the appeal to ignorance, the arguer basically says, "Look, there's no conclusive evidence on the issue at hand. Therefore, you should accept my conclusion on this issue."

http://www.unc.edu/depts/wcweb/handouts/fallacies.html)

Example: "People have been trying for centuries to prove that God exists."

Explanation: here people are ignoring the god that he is not exists.

Fallacy: Straw man

"TheStraw Manfallacy is committed when apersonsimply ignores aperson's actualpositionand substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of thatposition. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:

  1. PersonA haspositionX.
  2. PersonB presentspositionY (which is a distorted version of X).
  3. PersonB attackspositionY.
  4. Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.

This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of apositionsimply does not constitute an attack on thepositionitself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of apersonto hurt theperson."

Example: "Feminists want to ban all pornography and punish anyone who reads it! But such harsh measures are surely inappropriate, so the feminists are wrong: porn and its readers should be left in peace."

Explanations:

Fermists is strong that's why he is ban on pornography who read its.

Fallacy: Appeal toAuthority

"An Appeal toAuthorityis a fallacy with the following form:

  1. Person A is (claimed to be) anauthorityon subject S.
  2. Person A makes claim C about subject S.
  3. Therefore, C is true."

Example

"I'm not a doctor, but I play one on the hit series "Bimbos and Stud muffins in the OR." You can take it from me that when you need a fast acting; effective and safe pain killer there is nothing better than MorphiDope 2000. That is my considered medical opinion."

Explanation:

Actor claims he is not doctor but he can give medical opinion which is fast acting, effective and safe pain killer.

Strength and Weakness

  1. Another reason that women are better than men at raising children is that they are kinder. My mother was a good example. She did many kind things not only for me but also for many other people she met, including strangers.
  2. Strength: no strength

Weakness: this is not a sufficient reason that woman are better than man.

  3. Living costs are also increasing in the areas of housing affordability. In a recent survey, 68% of people said that they found it more difficult to pay their rent or housing loan than last year.
  4. Strength: Here premise is strongly support the conclusion. So conclusion is strength of the above argument.

    Weakness: No weakness.

  5. The decline in the fertility rate is a further reason that immigration will become more and more important. According to Weston (2001), the fertility rate in this country has fallen from 3.5 live births per woman in 1961 to its lowest level ever, 1.8 babies per woman in 1999 and 2000.
  6. Strength: No strength

Weakness: In the argument premise is weak and not support the conclusion so it is weakness of sentences.

  7. No evidence has yet been found of a direct link between this particular product and heart diseases or other illnesses. Therefore, we would conclude that it is perfectly safe for people of all ages to take it.
  8. Strength: no strength

Weakness: in this sentence premises is not support the conclusion. Because it is lacking of reason that supports the conclusion.

  9. It appears for the moment that there is unlikely to be a connection between eating this product and the ability to concentrate. Despite extensive research focused on investigation this link, such as Crumlin (1996), Detford (2000) and Gandiger-Herzog (2002), no evidence has yet been found.
  10. Strength: In this argument according to authors the product is strong and premise strongly supports the conclusion then it is strength of argument.

    Weakness: no weakness
