Israeli beautiful beaches and its amazing story
Israel is known for its beautiful beaches and its amazing story. The main language of Israel is Hebrew, and the religion is Judaism. Many people enjoy the dry desert climate when it isn't to the point where there are droughts. Israel, or as the Israelis call it "Medinat Yisra'el", has a population of about 7,233,701 people. However, this country gets thousands of tourists a year due to the not only the gorgeous, but historical cities and culture.
One of the most amazing things about Israel is the Negev Desert. "Negev" means "South" in Hebrew. This desert covers over 4,700 square miles, and takes up about 60% of Israel's overall landmass. The Negev Desert is also thought of as a very religious place because both Christians and Jews believe that this was the place that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob took care of their herds.
Another important part of Israel is the Jordan River. The Jordan River has the lowest elevation of any other river in the world. It flows from the great rift valley and empties out into the Dead Sea.The Jordan River is also thought of as sacred and religious because of the many references to it in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles. It was said to be the place that Jesus was baptized.
Possibly the place where Israel gets the most tourists would be the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is a body of water highly concentrated with salt. It also has the lowest point of elevation in the world. There is so much salt in the Dead Sea, that it is nearly impossible to sink below. Many tourists like to go in to relax and float in the water.
Countries that border Israel include Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. These countries have greatly affected Israel's culture. Many of these countries have had serious disagreements and wars (like the "six-day war") with Israel. Also, there are many bodies of water bordering it. These include the Mediterranean Sea, Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee, and Gulf of Agaba. These bordering countries and bodies of water are all extremely important to the Israeli people and their life.
There are so many cities that are very important to Israeli people and people that travel there. For example, Jerusalem is probably one of the most important cities of Israel. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. This city was established 3000 years ago by King David as the capital of the Jewish nation. It is worshiped by Jews, Christians and Muslims from all around the world.
Another important city is Tel-Aviv. Tel-Aviv is the largest city in Israel, located at the center of the country by the Mediterranean coast. Tel-Aviv functions as the center of the commercial and financial life of Israel. Jaffa, an old suburb of the city, is a major tourist attraction. Tel-Aviv includes many types of entertainment such as theater, concerts, and night clubs.
The city of Ashkelon is also very popular and is located east of the Mediterranean sea. The city attracts tourists from all around the world, for its cool and dry climate and archaeological and historical highlights.
Netanya is a seacoast town on the Sharon coastal plain, and a center for tourism that attracts thousands of tourists every year. The beaches and hotels have made it a popular tourist place.
Megiddo is an archaeological place where you can see and touch monuments from biblical times. Megiddo is the only site in the Land of the Bible with remains of thirty cities built one on top of the other.
The Ashdod port is the largest in Israel and one of the largest in the Mediterranean. In summer months, the city is crowded with thousands of tourists and various languages are spoken.
Safed is one of the four holy cities in Israel. It has been a spiritual center since the 1600s when it was the center of Kabbala. The old part of town consists of narrow twisted streets with artists' galleries, synagogues, private homes and small guests houses.
Israel is a well-developed country with Parliamentary Democracy government. The current president is President Shimon Peres and the prime minister is Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. In Israel, they use the "Shekel" as their currency for their market economy. Main exports of Israel include cut diamonds, high-technology equipment, and agricultural products (fruits and vegetables).
Some major sports that are played in Israel are Tennis, Squash (similar to racquetball), Soccer, and Basketball. Shahar Peer is a very famous Tennis player. Another famous Tennis player is Oded Yaakov. Like many other countries, sports are very important to Israel.
Stuffed cabbage, Blintzes and knishes, couscous, falafel and shishlik are very popular throughout the country. Challa is a very sweet, golden, eggy bread, that is used a lot in every day lives in Israel. The Jaffa orange has also been a major symbol of the country. Also, it is very important to the Jewish people to eat Kosher on Jewish holidays. When dining Kosher you cannot mix meat and dairy.
Another important staple to Israel is the bagel. The bagel has been a part of Jewish cuisine for at least 400 years. In America, bagels are traditionally served with cream cheese and lox (smoked salmon) or other fish spreads (herring, whitefish, etc.). They are also quite good with cream cheese and a thick slice of tomato. Matzoh balls are also known as "knaydelach" (Yiddish for dumplings). Matzoh ball soup usually has two or three ping-pong-ball sized matzoh balls (or sometimes one very large matzoh ball) in it. A type of popular candy in Israel is honey candies. They are made with honey, poppy seeds, and spices.
Israel is a very modern and well-developed country. Art is very important to the people and their history. Some very famous Israeli artists include Marc Chagall, Uri Lazar, Aviva Uri. Israel is thought to be a modern country because their education system, their ways of communication and transportation, and even the way they dress is very similar to Americans.
However, just because Israel is well-developed, it doesn't mean that everything is perfect over there. Bombs go off almost everyday due to so much fighting and disagreements. Recently, Israel has been trying to take some of the Palestinian land, but they are fighting back and bombs are flying everywhere now.
